This year’s batch is composed of 23 students from KU, who were welcome in campus by the FU administration led by President Dr. Mira D. Sinco.

In her welcome remarks to the KU students, President Sinco expressed her appreciation to the KU Administration for continuously sending students to FU for the English program, in observance of the agreement signed by both universities in 2006.

She said that beyond the ESL program, the MOA is also about building relationships with our Asian neighbors and counterparts in the field of education.

“Education is life, and education is all about the experience and lessons we gather and learn along the way,” President Sinco added.

She said that aside from the ESL program itself, “ I hope your stay in Dumaguete will give you valuable insights about us Filipino, how we live and cope up with the daily rigors of life, with the hope that you will be able to appreciate us more, and share the same with your family and friends.”

The ESL program at FU started on Jan. 14 and will run until Feb. 15.

The teaching personnel is headed by Dr. Roulette Pis-an Cordevilla, with English professor Steve Hartzler, Hedy Toolen, and Otilia Gaudan.

The next batch of KU students are expected mid-July this year.
