Posted : 2008-09-22 14:00:25

Three of the high-ranking officials of Colegio de Santa Catalina de Alejandria headed by the dynamic President, Rev. Fr. Enrique N. Balongag recently attended the national convention of the Catholic Educators Association of the Philippines held at Ateneo de Davao University’s Matina campus, Davao City last September 11-13, 2008. With him who attended the three-day national gathering were Dr. Sylvia Flores, dean of the College of Education and Liberal Arts Department and Miss Herminia Nazareno, dean of the Basic Education Department.

In attendance with the group were some 2,000 delegates from the Catholic institutions all over the country. The meet was opened by a Holy Mass officiated by Digos Bishop Guillermo Afable. It was then followed by a discussion on the topic, “Where is Catholic Education?” delivered by CEAP President Rev. Fr. Roderick Salazar, Jr. Talks, workshops and cultural presentations composed the three-day gathering which also highlighted the announcement and induction of new CEAP officers, awarding of jubilarians and announcement of new CEAP member schools.

COSCA President Rev. Fr. Enrique N. Balongag was elected Auditor of the Executive Committee of the Superintendents’ Commission of the CEAP.

The theme of this year’s convention is “Growing into soul: Inner space, sacred place in Catholic convention.”

Meanwhile on a related development, Rev. Fr. Enrique N. Balongag, COSCA president, recently flew to Hongkong to address an invitation from a group of Overseas Filipino Workers there, the Filipino Prayer Group, and delivered an inspirational talk on spirituality last September 14, 2008. The group was so blessed to have his presence more so because on the following day of September 15th, this gifted public speaker shared his expertise in the corporate world having been a consultant and speaker to many well-known firms and audiences both locally and internationally. Fr. Eking, as he is fondly called, conducted a Leadership training during the Leaders’ Conference of the OFW’s in Hongkong.
