Mary Jane Arbolado SOME TEN MALE show business personalities will see action against the Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) Tigers in a basketball exhibition match this coming Founders’ Day Celebration of the university. The celebrities who will be playing against the Tigers are Derek Ramsey, Joross Gamboa, Gerald Anderson, Joseph Bitangcol, Bong Alvarez, Ace Espinosa, Ronnie Rickets, Carlos Morales, Bayani Agbayani and Onyok Velasco. The game will be held at the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Complex on November 28, the first day of the weeklong Founders’ Day Celebration. According to Student Government of Dumaguete City I (SGDCI) President Anthony Elma, the stars, aside from playing in the main campus, will be conducting series of exhibition games in NORSU satellite campuses. They are expected to arrive on November 26 and will be playing at NORSU-Guihulngan City Campus on the same date. On the 27th, the team will be visiting NORSU-Siaton Campus and Bayawan-Sta.Catalina Campus to showcase their basketball prowess. Elma added that the idea of conducting the first-ever activity came from Tanjay City Councilor Rey Concepcion and it was especially offered to NORSU over other sectors who wanted to sponsor the event. Elma said that University President Henry A. Sojor asked the SG to shoulder the expenses of the activity. Excluding operational expenses, the stars’ appearance in Main Campuses costs P300,000 and P200,000 each in the satellite campuses, according to Elma. Because the SG does not have sufficient budget to finance the talent fees of the stars, an additional amount of P100.00 was added to the college fund that the students paid upon enrollment. The amount will serve as the Norsunians’ admission fee during the exhibition game. Outsiders who are interested to watch the star-studded event can watch the game at P200 per ticket, Elma said. source: The NORSUnian (www.thenorsunian.com)
