One hundred and three years to date (2007) had passed since its foundation as a school; St. Paul University Dumaguete continues to adopt academic programs that integrate students’ performance, self-discipline and basic skills for everyday living. Also, wishing to accustom students to the cultural heritage of their race and of St. Paul de Chartres Congregation develops traits such as perseverance, personal responsibility, accountability, generosity, courtesy and honesty. The focus of its program is to provide rich and varied experiences to the students, also encompass feelings of worth and charity while helping recognize individual needs. The acquisition of knowledge and exploration of the world of professionalism and the ability to get along with others complete the program. Moreover, the university establishes plans, and projects that are aimed to support the students in the enhancement of their knowledge.

To contribute to the achievement of national priorities in fields like poverty alleviation, health, education, environment and global competitiveness, St. Paul University Dumaguete through its academic curricula and non-academic programs ensure to incorporate special areas of concern that will specifically address some important areas of our country’s concern. For instance, the College of Business Administration ensures that in the different management subjects, they give special emphasis on Entrepreneurship with focus on capital generation, handling people, and other business related issues coupled with emphasis on Responsible Environment Management and Social Responsibility.

The College of Arts and Education also ensures that Education at all levels will contribute to economic growth through imparting attitudes and skills necessary for a variety of workplaces especially in forming the would-be formators and educators in the future. Although the link between education and professional productivity is not entirely clear, general knowledge and learning skills acquired in school are usually assumed to make professionals more capable of acquiring new skills and adapting to new working environments. St. Paul University Dumaguete through College of Arts and Education believes and sees the relevance of the education system to the labor market thus lies most fundamentally in its ability to produce a literate, disciplined, flexible labor force through a high-quality, universal basic education.

The College of Nursing continues to adopt the national and global perspective that Nursing is the pivotal health care profession, highly valued for its specialized knowledge, skill and caring in improving the health status of the public and ensuring safe, effective, quality care. The profession mirrors the diverse population it serves and provides leadership to create positive changes in health policy, delivery systems and treating such profession as a ministry of Christ at the same time. Thereto, in the light of the present societal condition where the nursing profession is being threatened by the dehumanization of health care, the formation, strengthening and deepening of the carative character of Nursing is of prime importance. Formation is essentially the task of education and education, to be authentic and wholistic has to address itself to the whole person.

Moreover, as seen in the records of the Professional Licensure Examinations conducted by the Professional Regulations Commission in the field of Education, Accountancy and Nursing, St. Paul University Dumaguete has continued to produce results high above the national passing rates. St. Paul University Dumaguete Nursing Program is recognized by the PRC as one of the Outstanding Performing Nursing Schools in the Philippines with Average Board Passing Rate of 90% and Above for the Last Five Years (2000-2004) and on the records available at present same performance has been maintained and aiming to make it 100% by June 2007.

To meet and respond to both local and global demands of educational competency St. Paul University Dumaguete has entered into partnerships and agreements with some foreign schools and Institutional organization in order to foster information exchange and practical projects for the academe and business, as well as the need for the country to compete effectively in global markets.
